Events like comic book launches, thor costume film promotions and game launches are where these cosplayers make the bulk of their money. I spoke with folks like Albin Johnson, who founded the 501st Legion, and Adam Savage, who’s best known for his work on Mythbusters and for showing up in costume at conventions. But they were stunned when the man turned out to be wearing a fancy dress costume with an umbrella which had a ‘sword hilt’ handle.
“There’s something special when that little kid comes up to you,” Justin said. You tend not to think of yourself as being that special.
